University
Bengaluru North University is a state university[1] located in Tamaka, near NH 75 in Kolar, Karnataka, India. The university was established by the Government of Karnataka through the Karnataka State Universities (Amendment) Act. The University was initially established as Central College in Bangalore during the British Raj in the year 1886. The UGC rechristened it to Bangalore University on the 10th of July 1964. The university is a part of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and affiliated by University Grants Commission (UGC). The University is accredited by NAAC under the new grading system with a grade A. However, the state government has decided to go ahead with trifurcation to create a North Bengaluru University (Chikkaballapur), South Bengaluru University (JB Campus), and Central Bengaluru University (Central College Campus).
